RiDE Tested - February 1997 Scottoiler Universal Chain Oiler Kit After just three weeks of riding with a Scottoiler fitted to my bike I realised what an idiot I had been. Basically a Scottoiler drips oil onto the bike's chain from a special reservoir, ensuring is stays in A1 condition - and for a biker that's like a breath of fresh air. For years I'd been pissing about with my bike's chain every weekend: tins of degreaser, scraping off black sticky mess, squirting on more black sticky mess. The chain was always covered in grit and muck, stretching and getting unbelievable tight spots - which always needed sorting. Now, after 3000 Scottoiler miles, the difference is staggering. The chain needed no adjustment, was well lubricated with clean, grit free oil and the rear wheel and chainguard only had a thin film of spent oil on which washed off easily. The only maintenance needed was topping up the reservoir every 500 miles. In short, I love it and from now on every bike I own will have one. Verdict: If you only fit one gadget to your bike this year make it a Scottoiler. |
