Scottoiler Slipperblock
The Slipperblock (Patent pending) is the next generation method for lubricant application, evolved from the dual injector. In its first incarnation the silicone rubber block ‘floats’ on the chain from a choice of different mounting points along the swingarm, making it more suitable to a wider range of models. The Slipperblock can also be positioned away from the sprocket/chain interface making it less vulnerable than the dual injector, a point which has been further improved upon through use of a superior selection of materials.
The Slipperblock’s main benefit is that it cleans the chain as well as lubricating it when the chain passes through the block. By removing abrasives from the chain as it enters the block it leaves a clear path for the oil to be fed directly to the inner side plates of the chain. This means the oil can spread easily to the most important places for chain lubrication – the pins (to prevent wear of the case hardening and ultimately chain stretch), the rollers (to protect against metal on metal contact from the sprocket and reduce hooking of the teeth), the o/x-rings (to reduce the friction of the rings against the metal surfaces, increasing the chains efficiency, reducing the operating temperatures and improving power transfer).
The Slipperblock ‘floats’ on the layer of oil it puts on the chain, but is ultimately a wearing part. The very small drag effect the block has on the chain helps keep the lubricant at its optimum temperature to provide a suitable cleaning and lubricating action whilst also reducing fling from the sprockets as the block operates as the ideal shedding point for any built up dirt.
NB. Slipperblocks are supplied in two sizes; for 520 size chains and for 525/530 size chains, so make sure that you fit the correct size of block for your chain. Refer to the sticker on the front of the box for sizing.
