Troubleshooting the Touring and Magnum HCR Kit
The RMV is emptying without syphoning oil from the HCR The HCR Unit is leakingSystem is not delivering oil
The RMV is emptying without syphoning oil from the HCR
Check that the black breather plug on the swivel-out HCR filler has a clear central hole - this is the system breather.
Check that the filler plug is flat and airtight on RMV and that the nylon luer at the top of the plug is connected properly (these push and twist on for an airtight seal).
With the engine off, prime the pipe between the HCR and RMV by:
1. Disconnect nylon luers at top of RMV black rubber filler plug;
2. Swivel out HCR filler, removing the breather plug;
3. Remove clear tube from yellow spout cap of Scottoil bottle;
4. Fit yellow spout cap into HCR filler tube;
5. Pump bottle until oil fills the tube running between the HCR and the RMV;
6. Quickly reconnect luers into RMV filler plug, keeping the oil in the bridge pipe to the RMV.
Always re-prime this tube after any removal of filler plug/luer connection. NB: When the engine is switched off the oil will always travel part of the way down the tube, back into the HCR. However, the tube should refill within 30 seconds of the engine restarting.
If the pipe repeatedly empties completely back into the HCR and doesn't refill on restarting the engine - there must be an air leak at the RMV. Please contact Scottoilers, quoting your warranty reference and the code etched on the RMV under the filler plug. If the tubing is clear rather than yellow - the bore needs to be reduced. Contact Scottoilers, and we will send some new tubing out, free of charge. [Back]
