FAQs
How far can I go before I have to refill the reservoir?
The range on this kit is up to 1500 miles (depending on flow rate, speed, etc.) between reservoir refills – check the reservoir limited through the sight glass on each side.
Do I need to use the Bluetooth functionality?
No, the Bluetooth functionality and App use is entirely optional and just an additional, optional feature for customers to further adjust settings.
Do I have to have my phone always connected?
No, the Bluetooth app is designed to change settings, not to give any overview while riding. When settings are changed, these are written to the xSystem and after that the app can be disconnected. The app will also automatically disconnect after 5 minutes of inactivity so as not to distract while riding.

How do I know when my xSystem has successfully paired with my phone
When connecting a new xSystem device to an Android phone the “Pairing” Dialogue Popup will appear twice. This is a good indication of a successful initial bonding. Should the pairing dialog popup only appear once there might be an issue with the bonding process. If this happens, please follow the reset procedure and switch the xSystem off and then on again before re-attempting pairing. When connecting a new xSystem device to an iOS device the “Pairing” Dialogue Popup will appear once.
What is “Always On” Mode?
Changing the advanced settings mode to “Always On” will tell the xSystem to always activate the device at the chosen flow rate setting and disregard any movement triggering. The xSystem will continue to deliver oil even when the motorcycle is at a standstill or turned off in the garage. The “Always On” function can be useful when setting up the system but care must be taken to return to normal to avoid continual operation. As such, modifying the advanced settings should only be done by experienced users and when it is understood what the function does.
How can I reset the xSystem to factory defaults if I am selling my motorcycle (with the xSystem included) or changing my mobile phone?
Press and Hold the DOWN button for 11 seconds. Next, power down the xSystem and then power-up again shortly afterwards. This power cycling is important to fully return the unit to manufacturers default settings.

I have mounted my xSystem first on a KTM 1290 Super Adventure and no issues on it after 40,000km on it. I made last the chain and sprocket with the same amount of kilometers and sold it still with the same kit.

A while back I bought an X-System Scottoiler for a Triumph Tiger 660. This is my second Scottoiler (I had the V-System for more than 10 years fitted on four different bikes) and I have to say that these Scottoilers are an excellent piece of kit and exceptionally well designed and built. Once fitted they need hardly any maintenance (only slight adjustments between seasons and a top up of oil). The V-System is great but the electronic X-System is even better: more efficient (it uses less oil because it only works when the motorcycle is in motion – so no dripping when the engine is fired up and you are stationary) and it’s easier to fit, needing no connection to the engine as the V-System does) – it also looks great on the bike – not like some afterthought.

An automatic chain oiler on any chain driven motorcycle is a no brainer. The naysayers will try to convince that they “don’t work as the rollers are sealed” or “they oil the back wheel” and a multitude of more absurd, baseless claims.
The fact is that automatic chain oilers do work and the Scottoiler is probably the more superior product on the market and has been for many years.
Yes, oil can spread across the wheel and the rear mudguard, but it does using conventional chain oiling techniques.
I’ve been using a Scottoiler on my bikes for decades now. I find the convenience of not having to spray chain cleaner then chain oil, or worse pour used engine oil over the chain, a real bonus.
Longer tours means I carry a small bottle of Scottoil rather than two aerosol cans for chain maintenance. Another bonus.
Buy a Scottoiler and keep your hands clean, and have another pint with the time you’ve saved!
